Hi — I'm Roman Su, and I write everything on this site.

I've spent twelve years reading about, comparing and arguing over interior design. Before Cozy Decor World I ran a blog devoted entirely to sofas — more than 500 articles about a single category of furniture. That sounds absurd until you've done it. Spend that long on one object and you stop seeing decoration and start seeing decisions: seat depth against how people actually sit, frame construction against how long a piece survives a family, upholstery against light and wear. The habit stuck.

Why this site exists

Most decorating advice online shows you a room and tells you it's beautiful. That's the easy half. The useful half is why it works — and why the same idea collapses in a room with one north-facing window, a radiator under it and a ceiling two and a half metres up.

So every article here is built around the reasoning, not just the picture. If a dark bedroom reads as calm rather than cave-like, there's a reason: light reflectance values, how many separate sources the room has, whether one of them is bright enough to actually read by. If a small room feels larger, that's rarely the paint colour — it's usually clearance, sightlines and where the storage went.

How I work

I start each piece with the same question: what would have to be true for this to work in a real room? Then I look for things that can be checked rather than felt — colour temperature in kelvins, the clearance a walkway needs to stop feeling tight, standard mattress and wardrobe dimensions, how patina differs from factory distressing, what's reversible in a rented flat and what costs you the deposit.

Where an article leans on a specific principle, I list it at the bottom under Sources & principles referenced, so you can see what the advice rests on instead of taking my word for it.

What I'm not

I'm not a certified interior designer and I don't present myself as one. I'm a researcher and a long-time obsessive — someone who has compared a great many rooms and can explain what separates the ones that work. For structural work, wiring or anything load-bearing, hire the relevant professional. Everything here is about the decisions you make after that.

What you'll find

Eighty-four articles so far, across bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, small spaces, colour and style. Bedrooms are the largest section, because that's where the questions I get are hardest: the room has the most competing jobs and usually the least floor area.

If something here helped — or if I got something wrong — I'd genuinely like to know. The contact page reaches me directly.
